DAR's Apprenticeship Program

A 40-hour per week holistic experience April 1st - November 26th, including a balance of:
Regenerative Farming at Elk Run and Yellow Barn Farms, learning skills such as forest gardening, vegetable and medicinal herb cultivation, livestock husbandry, rotational grazing, staple crop systems, market farming, food preparation and preservation, and community living
Implementing dryland agroforestry and orchard projects at new sites
Collecting research data on soil health, insect biodiversity, grassland health, and tree and shrub survival rates at our partner sites to evaluate farm health
Free and required enrollment in our 120-hour Foundations of Agroecology Course, which will teach foundations of ecological design and principles of regenerative agriculture - One weekend per month at one or more of our partner sites - Grounded in principles of permaculture design.
Invitation to return for subsequent years as part of our inspired and growing collective of land stewards
You may be a good fit if:
You are able and excited to commit to this program for a full growing season
You are invested in regenerative land management as a career path
You are excited to work as part of a team and work/live in close community
You have a strong work ethic
You have natural curiosity and a strong desire to learn diverse skills, including farming, design, project implementation, and research
You are comfortable with full days of light to strenuous physical activity, including squatting, kneeling, walking on uneven terrain, shoveling, moving materials, etc…
You are comfortable with the ethical and ecological management of livestock for meat
