Service Description

Learn what is needed to go out into the wilderness by practicing backpacking skills. We will build nature forts/lean-tos, go on hikes to have picnics, build a teacher-led group fire, and learn what type of first aid we can make out of herbs and what we need to carry in. During the week we will experience what it's like to cook food over the fire and share stories of experiences in nature. On the last day we will engage in a mindfulness practice with the land and have a chance to draw, write, or speak it to the circle at a fire. The practice reminds children that being outside can be a meditation that opens a space for bravery as well as calm.
