Insect Biodiversity Data Collection
Help us collect data on insect biodiversity as an indicator of ecosystem biodiversity in our farm systems.
Time & Location
Jul 20, 2022, 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Yellow Barn Farm, 9417 N Foothills Hwy, Longmont, CO 80503, USA
About the Event
Help us collect insect biodiversity data in the farm systems at Yellow Barn Farm. We will begin with a short, 15-minute orientation to the procedure we are using. We will provide all the materials you need to collect data, but you are encouraged to bring a phone to take photographs of certain insects to support identification (not required) - these will be uploaded to our INaturalist project. A general familiarity with insect patterns is helpful (ie; you can tell apart a wasp and a bee), but no deep knowledge is necessary.Â
Come prepared to spend a full 3 hours in the elements and on all fours, with water, sturdy shoes, sun protection, and knee pads if you need them. We will meet in the parking area by the yellow barn.
Please email amy@dar.eco ahead of time if you have to cancel, so we can plan accordingly!
