About the Event

Join us in measuring survival and growth rates for the trees in our dryland agroforestry systems. We will count the number of surviving members of each tree/shrub species by swale and measure a representative sample of each to understand growth rates (1000 trees total). This is critical for us to understand which species are best suited to agroforestry in this environment and also as insight on water and fertility patterns in our swale systems.

Please bring close-toed shoes, sun protection, water, and a clipboard (if you have one). We will do an introduction to tree and shrub ID and provide guidance throughout, but some familiarity with plants and plant ID is encouraged. Come prepared to spend the full session in the elements and on your feet. If you have to leave early, that is okay, but please make sure you arrive on time so we can give everyone an orientation and let us know if you plan to leave early.
